Shawn Kuk is currently serving as the Director of Community Planning & Development at KYCC, a community non-profit established in 1975. Prior to that, Shawn was the Planning Director for the 14th Council District in the City of Los Angeles and worked as a City Planner in the Department of City Planning. Shawn also has experience as an Assistant Planner at SCAG, focusing on regional transportation planning. Shawn holds a Master's degree in Planning from USC and a Bachelor's degree in Asian American Studies and History from UCLA.

The Koreatown Youth and Community Center is a nonprofit, community-based organization that has been serving the Koreatown community since 1975. KYCC's programs and services are specifically directed towards recently immigrated, economically disadvantaged youth and their families who experience coping and adjustment difficulties due to language and cultural barriers. Since its inception, KYCC has striven to improve the quality of its programs, as well as to diversify its services to meet the evolving needs of the Korean American population and the multiethnic Koreatown community.
