Sylvia Bates

Director Of Standards And Research at Land Trust Alliance

Sylvia Bates has had a diverse range of work experience in the conservation field. Sylvia started their career as the Director of Land Protection at the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests in 1989 and held that position until 1997. Sylvia then served as the Executive Director of the Squam Lakes Association in 1997 and 1998. Following that, they founded their own consulting company, SKBates Conservation Consulting, LLC, where they worked as the Principal from 1998 to 2006. In 2006, they joined the Land Trust Alliance as the Director of Standards and Research. Sylvia also served as a Board Member for the American Friends of Canadian Land Trusts from 2010 to 2014.

Sylvia Bates attended Yale University from 1978 to 1982, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Biology.
