Janis Avens is an experienced IT leader with a strong background in telecommunications and project management. Since January 2012, Janis has served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Latvenergo and has been a member of the European Board of Directors for the European Utilities Telecom Council and the Board of the Latvian Telecommunications Association. Janis previously held board membership at the Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association until March 2021. Prior experience includes managing the IT Division at the Electronic Communications Office and leading project management teams at Lattelecom Technology SIA from 1997 to 2010, overseeing key initiatives in data center operations and virtualization projects. Janis holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Riga Business School and a diploma in Mathematics from Latvijas Universitate.
