Alvis Vilks has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Alvis started their career in 1992 as an inspector at the State Police in Latvia, where they worked until 2001. Alvis then joined the State Revenue Service as a senior specialist for two years before moving to the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau in 2003. At the Bureau, they served as Deputy Director for almost a decade. In 2012, Alvis joined SJSC Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme as the Head of Legal Unit and later became the Head of the Quality Assurance Department in 2013. Overall, Alvis Vilks has demonstrated expertise and leadership in various areas throughout their career.
Alvis Vilks attended Latvijas Universitate from 1990 to 2000, where they pursued a master's degree in social sciences.

The main goal of the State Joint Stock Company Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS) is to provide the users with the optimum Air Navigation Services in Riga Flight Information region (FIR). LGS product is air navigation services. The main revenue source for LGS are air navigation charges collected for the rendered service and there is no financing from the State budget. Moreover, LGS is one of the largest tax payers in Latvia.
