Jorge-Luis Barrera

Jorge-Luis Barrera is a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory since August 2020. Prior roles at the laboratory include Staff Research Scientist and Computational Optimization Engineer, as well as Postdoctoral Researcher. From August 2015 to August 2020, Jorge-Luis served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Colorado at Boulder, focusing on level set-based optimization and multi-physics model implementations. Additionally, Jorge-Luis taught graduate courses as a part-time instructor in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Departments during late 2018. Earlier experience includes being a Graduate Student Researcher at The Ohio State University and working as a Cathodic Protection Technician at JUPESA. Jorge-Luis earned a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral.
