Joseph Zaug

Joseph Zaug, PhD, is a seasoned professional at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, serving as a Senior Science and Engineering Leader and Program Manager since April 1997. Expertise includes designing and leading advanced technology research, cultivating collaborative initiatives, and developing government roadmaps for future capabilities. Zaug founded the High Pressure Chemistry Group, managed substantial funding portfolios, and mentored diverse teams while ensuring adherence to safety and compliance regulations. A prolific author with over 100 publications, Zaug has also chaired international research conferences and contributed to significant advancements in material characterization. Prior experience includes roles at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Graduate Research Associate. Academic achievements include a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a Physics minor from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
