Dr. Antonio J. Jara has a diverse and extensive work experience in research and innovation within the fields of Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Cities, and data quality. Dr. Antonio J. is currently an Executive Board Member and the Chief Scientific Officer at Libelium, where they lead IoT research and innovation projects related to edge computing, AI services, cybersecurity for IoT, and blockchain. Dr. Antonio J. is also involved in initiatives related to air quality, parking, water control, crowd management, and environment and sustainability. Additionally, Dr. Jara holds the position of General Manager Smart Cities at Libelium.

Prior to joining Libelium, Dr. Jara served as a Member of the Board of Directors at FIWARE, where they contributed as an expert and evangelist in the development of FIWARE for Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, and agriculture markets.

Dr. Jara has also collaborated with the Universidad de Murcia as a Research Collaborator in the Intelligent Systems and Networking Group. In this role, they supported the research group in various capacities, including the supervision of students for master and bachelor's theses, PhDs, and research papers.

Within the IEEE community, Dr. Jara held the position of Chair for IoT Data Quality, where they were responsible for defining the new generation of data quality standards for IoT devices and sensors. Dr. Antonio J. also served as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Internet of Things Emerging Technical Subcommittee.

Dr. Jara has experience as the CEO of HOPU, a company focused on IoT and Smart Cities solutions. In this role, they prioritize user experience and value engineering to create human-oriented products for urban environments. HOPU specializes in urban innovations utilizing technologies such as AI, IoT, and data quality. Dr. Jara held this position until recently when they transitioned to their current roles at Libelium.

Prior to HOPU, Dr. Jara worked at HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale as an Adjoint Scientifique and as a Post Doc. Dr. Antonio J.'swork focused on developing algorithms for GeoTrust, data economy, and communications geo-location. Dr. Antonio J. also collaborated with Mobility Lab on projects relating to urban mobility, autonomous vehicles, and user experience.

Dr. Jara began their career as a researcher and PhD candidate at the Universidad de Murcia. Dr. Antonio J. also briefly worked as a lecturer on IPv6 management and configuration at the Center for continuous learning of high school teachers (Centro de Profesores y Recursos - CPR).

Additionally, Dr. Jara gained experience in the industry as a Security/Middleware professional at United Technologies Research Center and as the CTO and Co-Founder of viBrain Solutions.

Throughout their career, Dr. Antonio J. Jara has made significant contributions to the fields of IoT, Smart Cities, and data quality through their research, leadership, and involvement in various organizations and initiatives.

Dr. Antonio J. Jara has a comprehensive education history. Dr. Antonio J. obtained their Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the Universidad de Murcia in the years 2004 to 2009. Following that, they pursued a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Networking from the same university, completing it in 2010. Dr. Jara then continued their education at the Universidad de Murcia and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from 2010 to 2013.

To further their knowledge and skills, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Economics from the UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia between 2011 and 2012. Dr. Antonio J. also attended ENAE Business School in 2012 to specialize in Business Plan Design.

Expanding their expertise, Dr. Jara completed a Postdoctoral program in Innovation and Internet of Things at HES-SO Valais-Wallis from 2013 to 2017.

In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications. In 2019, Dr. Jara became a certified FIWARE Expert by the FIWARE institution. More recently, in 2023, they obtained certifications in the Management and Implementation of ISO 27001 Standard in Corporate Information Security and Cybersecurity Strategies from Postal3, Lean Six Sigma: Herramientas de las fases de Análisis, Mejora y Control from LinkedIn, and Team Kanban Practitioner from Kanban University.
