LifeNet partners with community health centers to build their medical and administrative capacity and connect them with pharmaceuticals and equipment. By strengthening local capacity in every link of the healthcare delivery chain, we can transform primary care for Africa’s poor. LN's conversion franchise platform for primary care health centers is designed for impact, scale and sustainability, drawing on business principles to build in-country capacity and generate long-term effect. LN launched its conversion franchise model with 12 facilities in Burundi in 2012. Now, in 2017, LN's network has expanded to include 77 facilities in Burundi, Uganda, and the Eastern DRC, providing high quality care for over 1,000,000 patient visits per year. By 2025, LN plans to transform quality of care received in 20 million patient visits to 1,000 franchised health centers operating in 10 East African countries. LN has been recognized by the WHO as an innovative healthcare solution through Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) and is active in innovation networks including Innovations in Healthcare, the Social Enterprise Accelerator at Duke University (SEAD), the Center for Health Market Initiatives (CHMI), the International Center for Social Franchising (ICSF), the Pfizer Foundation, the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN), and the Segal Family Foundation.
