Rudi Kirner

Rudi Kirner is a seasoned aerospace engineer with extensive experience in propulsion and thermal systems analysis, currently serving as Team Lead for Propulsion Aerothermal Tools & Methods at Lilium since June 2022. In this role, Rudi oversees a multi-disciplinary team focused on eVTOL propulsion, developing methods for safety of flight and certification, and leading software development initiatives. Previously, Rudi held positions at Sunrise Systems Limited and Rolls-Royce, where expertise in thermo-fluid systems, transient network solvers, and validation of engineering models was demonstrated. Rudi’s academic background includes a PhD from Cranfield University, specializing in distributed propulsion technology, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sheffield.
