Literations
Lisa Higgins currently serves as a Program Manager at Literations, where the focus is on empowering young readers in underserved schools through personalized support. Previous roles include Director of the Social Innovation Fund Project and Cluster Manager for Boston, where responsibilities involved researching and recruiting schools for literacy programs and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance literacy coaching. Prior experience includes teaching Title One reading and math at Natick Public Schools and serving as a first-grade teacher in Needham Public Schools. Lisa Higgins holds a Master's degree in Elementary Education and Moderate Special Needs from Lesley University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Literations
Literations is a nonprofit literacy organization dedicated to improving the reading skills of K-3rd grade students in under-resourced communities of Greater Boston. Our intergenerational model, pairing caring, highly-trained older adult volunteers with young students, is key to achieving our positive outcomes. For over 20 years, we have made a difference in young lives. From the start, our mission has always been to help young students become literacy proficient. We believe children have the most to gain from achieving literacy proficiency by fourth grade, to be confident learners, and equipped for lifelong success. We are poised to meet the need for increased 1:1 literacy support in the Greater Boston area.
