Loamin
Hugh Sturrock, PhD is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Loamin, where tools are built using ground data, satellite imagery, and machine learning to support nature-based projects that sequester carbon in soil. Hugh is also a co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Locational, overseeing the development and application of statistical and machine learning approaches across projects. With a background as a spatial epidemiologist, Hugh has held various teaching and research positions at the University of California, Berkeley and University of California, San Francisco. Additionally, Hugh has obtained a PhD in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and has a Master of Science in Zoology from the University of Otago.

Loamin
Loamin provide tools to enable the monitoring and measurement of nature-based solutions at scale, unlocking the power of nature in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. Leveraging ground truth data, satellite imagery and spatial machine learning, Loamin tools enable highly-efficient soil sampling and continuous monitoring of key indicators at high spatial and temporal resolution. The end result is lower cost and lower risk to those financing and developing nature-based projects projects.
