Tolga Yardimci currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Lookin, Inc. since February 2019, while also holding multiple academic positions at the University of California, Los Angeles, including Assistant Researcher, Postdoctoral Scholar, and Graduate Student Researcher since July 2014. Prior experience includes a role as Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Michigan from September 2012 to July 2014 and internships at Georgia Institute of Technology and Aselsan in 2010 and 2011. Tolga Yardimci obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering - Physical and Wave Electronics from UCLA, a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering - Solid State Devices and Nanotechnology from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University.

Terahertz waves can penetrate through many optically opaque materials, allowing us to see inside many environments that are visually inaccessible. In addition, most molecules have unique spectral signatures at terahertz frequencies, enabling us to identify them under terahertz illumination. Furthermore, terahertz waves are non-ionizing andnon-destructive and, therefore, do not pose a health risk. The combination of these attractive specifications, provides a unique platform for many non-destructive quality control applications. Lookin develops scanners utilizing terahertz waves for various quality control applications where high-throughput and high-sensitivity operation is needed.
