Dr. David von Rosen is an international investor and serial entrepreneur, having founded globally successful businesses in fintech, gaming, fashion, insurance and real estate.
Through his family office VONROSEN, he invests in businesses across the globe with a strong focus on edtech, renewable energy, nutrition, defense, and mobility. Investing in early businesses, he has an appetite for high-risk investments and usually takes a majority share, leveraging and fueling the growth through his expertise, network, and capital. His profitable majority investments, which were all bootstrapped and don’t have any VC or external investors, made more than 1bn USD in revenue in 2023.
He has founded several gaming and gambling companies around the world, including Gibraltar-based Lottoland in 2013, which now serves over 18 million customers, and is licensed in 15 markets worldwide. Lottoland holds the Guinness World Record for the largest ever online payout in history of €90mn. The business has planted over 2.7 million trees and is the first in the sector to go carbon neutral.
More recently, von Rosen founded Web3-powered Favrr, a platform that allows users to purchase and sell stakes in their favourite celebrities, whilst supporting efforts to clean up the world’s oceans. His latest venture, 25 Degrees, is a super prime property development company specialising in bespoke residential properties in Dubai.
Von Rosen established his first entrepreneurial success with CareerConcept, an innovative higher education funding business, in 2002. In 2006, he was selected as a ‘Young Global Leader’ by the World Economic Forum in Davos, a programme that brings together a community of people with the ‘vision, courage, and influence to drive positive change in the world’.
He founded the online and membership-based fashion label VONROSEN in 2008, which produced high-end fashion basics, including the VONROSEN black turtleneck pullover, which was worn by Steve Jobs as he unveiled the iCloud at the WWDC conference in 2011.
Currently based in Dubai and Switzerland, von Rosen was born and raised in Germany. He studied economics and business at the European Business School and later gained a PhD in Economics from the University of Economics in Prague in 2007. He speaks English, German, French, and Spanish.
In his spare time, he is an avid traveller and sportsman who enjoys car racing and motocross, rock climbing, kitesurfing, downhill biking, and freeride and GS skiing. He also collects sports cars and modern art and is working toward a Private Pilot License.
