Sebastian Kempengren

Sebastian Kempengren is a PHD student at Lund University since December 2024, focusing on bio-based building block production using sustainably sourced biomass in the BIONEER project. Prior to this role, Sebastian spent over eight years at BioInvent International AB, progressing from Process Engineer in Cell Line Development to Manufacturing Scientist in Early Stage Bioprocess Development, with expertise in process characterization, tech transfer, and upstream process development. Earlier experience includes working as an Application Tester at Phase Holographic Imaging, where Sebastian utilized digital holographic microscopy for cancer cell line experiments, and serving as a Research Assistant at Lund University, performing cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Sebastian holds a Master's degree in Medical Biology and a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, both from Lund University.
