Thad Winkelman is a forensic trainer at Magnet Forensics since April 2022, utilizing a curriculum designed through research to share expertise. Previously, Thad served as a Computer Forensic Examiner and Team Leader at the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory (HARCFL) and was responsible for establishing the FBI's first Satellite RCFL Laboratory from September 2005 to April 2022. Thad has a background in law enforcement as a Deputy and Corporal at the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office from October 1998 to April 2022, where various roles included general patrol and community engagement. Thad began law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff at the Osage County Sheriff's Office from February 1995 to October 1998, contributing to the provision of emergency services in a small rural department. Thad earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, with an emphasis on Law Enforcement and Corrections, from Washburn University between 1989 and 1993.
