Ben Powis has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Ben has most recently worked at MandM as the Head of Data Science, where they have been responsible for delivering projects in machine learning, predictive analytics, and data analysis. Prior to this, they worked as a Data Science Manager and a Machine Learning Specialist at the same company. Before joining the tech industry, Ben worked in the hospitality sector. Ben served as a Business Development Manager at The Edinburgh Collection Limited and as a Front of House Manager at The Howard Hotel. Earlier in their career, they gained experience as a Reception Supervisor at Ballantrae Albany Hotel and as a Receptionist at Best Western Talbot Hotel.
Ben Powis earned a BA (Hons) degree in Illustration from Hereford College of Arts in the years 2005-2007. Ben also obtained additional certifications in various fields, including Dataiku Core Designer from Dataiku in 2020, and multiple certifications on Google Cloud Platform from Coursera in 2018. Ben also completed training courses in SQL and Google Cloud Platform from Lynda.com and Apteco Ltd respectively in 2017-2016.
