James Birney is a seasoned product management and technology professional with over a decade of experience in leading product strategies and engineering teams. Currently serving as the Chief Product Officer at MANTRA since May 2025, Birney previously held the position of Group Product Manager at Immutable and Atlassian. At Google, Birney contributed significantly to Google Maps and ARCore, spearheading initiatives such as the Multiplayer AR API and the Visual Positioning System. Earlier roles include financial analyst at Cisco Systems and president of Bond Consulting Group, where Birney successfully acquired international clients and optimized operational processes. James holds a BBA in Supply Chain and Information Technology from the University of Michigan and completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program with a focus on Psychology.
