M. Isabel Espinosa-Gonzalez currently serves as the Lead Scientist in the Fermentation Development group at Mara Renewables Corporation, specializing in upstream technical expertise, process development, and technology transfer documentation. With extensive experience in microbial fermentation, M. Isabel has held significant roles at Cronos Group and Apotex Fermentation Inc., focusing on the production of biosynthetic cannabinoids and APIs. Previous positions include a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta, where methodologies for bacterial recombinant protein production were developed, and various teaching assistant roles in nutrition, food science, and food microbiology. M. Isabel holds a PhD in Bioresource Technology from the University of Alberta and a Master's degree in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from CINVESTAV IPN.
