Declan Dunne is a skilled Research Software Engineer with extensive experience in geoinformatics at MaREI since November 2002, focusing on marine data management, visualization, and distributed web-GIS. Prior to this role, Declan worked at Oracle from August 1998 to July 2001 as a Software Engineer on a porting team, specializing in building, testing, and debugging Oracle Server for various UNIX environments. Declan began the career at AST Computer during a college placement in 1996, developing software tools for quality assurance in PC manufacturing. Declan holds a M.Sc. in Applied Science (Modelling and Numerical Computing) from University College Cork and a B.Sc. in Computer Systems from the University of Limerick.

MaREI is the marine and renewable energy research, development and innovation Centre supported by Science Foundation Ireland. It combines the expertise of a wide range of research groups and industry partners, with the shared mission of solving the main scientific, technical and socio-economic challenges across the marine and renewable energysectors. MaREI is coordinated by the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) at University College Cork and has over 200 researchers working across 6 academic institutions collaborating with over 45 industry partners.
