Lucy Hearn is an experienced application scientist specializing in extraction and enrichment at Markes International since January 2021. Previous roles include sales assistant at Select Fashion, customer assistant at Tesco, and leisure attendant at Pembroke Leisure Centre, where responsibilities involved customer service, stock management, and supporting educational activities. Lucy gained insight into laboratory operations during a work placement at Valero Energy Corporation. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Green Chemistry and Sustainable Industrial Technology from the University of York, along with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of South Wales, complemented by A Levels in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry from Pembroke Comprehensive.

We have a well-deserved reputation for application expertise in the field of thermal desorption, supplying a comprehensive range of instruments, sampling equipment and consumables that enhance the analytical capability of GC–MS. In 2018 we launched Centri, an automated multi-mode sampling platform for pre concentration of analytes from liquid, solid and gaseous samples. Centri has meant we have extended our reach for sample preparation techniques into Headspace, HS-trap, SPME, SPME-trap and high-capacity sorptive extraction (with trap) in addition to thermal desorption.
