Maryland Institute College of Art
Sonja Kelley is an accomplished academic and art historian with a focus on East Asian art history. Currently serving as Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Professor in the Department of the History of Art, Design and Visual Culture at the Maryland Institute College of Art since August 2012, Kelley has previously held positions as Chair of the Department of Art History, Theory and Criticism at Macalester College and as a visiting professor at multiple institutions, including Western Washington University and the University of Washington. Additionally, Kelley contributed as a researcher and writer for a project at the Seattle Art Museum, where earlier roles included curatorial intern in Chinese art and serving as a lecturer. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and M.A. in East Asian Art & Archaeology from Princeton University, along with extensive study in art history and language at esteemed institutions such as Tsinghua University and the University of Washington.
