Bethany Cowles

Bethany Cowles has extensive experience in compliance and risk management, currently serving as the Head of MMFA Compliance Strategy & Planning and Head of Strategic Risk at MassMutual since December 2008. In these roles, Bethany has led the development of risk management frameworks for Strategic, Competitive, and Sustainability risks, contributed to the establishment of the Sustainability Program, and managed the associated initiatives, including climate stress testing. Previous positions at MassMutual include Senior Distribution Risk Lead, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Audit, and Assistant Vice President of Corporate Compliance, where significant enhancements were made to the compliance and ethics program. Prior to MassMutual, Bethany worked as a Compliance Consultant at Integrity Interactive and held associate positions at Murphy & Riley, PC and Flynn & Associates, PC. Bethany holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and a degree from Union College.
