Johan Gerber

Johan Gerber is executive vice president of Security Solutions at Mastercard as well as a member of the company’s management committee. He is passionate about innovating to secure the digital ecosystem - and enhancing trust across our hyperconnected world.

His team works globally to design, develop and scale technology that protects consumers and customers from current and future cyber threats as well as fraud and other financial crimes.

During his more than 25 years at Mastercard, Johan has overseen the growth of the company’s cybersecurity offering, spearheading the successful acquisition of several security tech companies – including Recorded Future and Minna Technologies – and harnessing Identity, data science and AI to diminish the criminal enterprise.

His track record in defining and implementing Mastercard’s strategic vision for security has led to accelerated innovation and differentiation, meaning his expertise is widely sought-after across industry. He sits on the Merchant Risk Council advisory board for the Americas.

Prior to joining the company, Johan spent 10 years investigating organized crime and financial crime with the South African Police Services. He is a graduate of Rand Afrikaans University, holding a Degree in Forensic Auditing & Accounting.
