James Inkster

James Inkster is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Biology at McMaster University, a position held since April 2023. Previously, James served as a Radiopharmaceutical Research Associate at the University of Saskatchewan from September 2021 to April 2023, and as a Research Fellow focused on Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School from August 2015 to August 2021, where research involved the synthesis and pre-clinical assessment of new PET radiopharmaceuticals for neurology and cardiology. Earlier experience includes a post-doctoral role at Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève in radiotracer development, and a research associate position at TRIUMF, where methods for F-18 labeling of biological molecules were developed. Academically, James completed a PhD in Radiochemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biological Chemistry at Simon Fraser University (2009-2012), an MSc in Organic Chemistry at Simon Fraser University (2001-2003), and earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with Honors from the University of Saskatchewan (1994-1999).
