Philip Kariam

Philip Kariam is an Associate in International Trade at McMillan LLP, specializing in trade remedies, sanctions, import and export controls, procurement, international arbitration, foreign investment, and competition since August 2021. Prior experience includes roles as a Legal Consultant and Legal Intern with The World Bank's Environmental and International Law Practice Group, and a Legal Extern with Dechert LLP in the International Arbitration Practice Group. Philip served as Counsel at the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, focusing on international trade law and investor-state disputes, and completed an articling position with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General. Academic qualifications include a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center, a Master of International Affairs from Sciences Po, and a Juris Doctor from York University - Osgoode Hall Law School, complemented by internships at the UN Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, among others. Philip also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
