Sumner Ellis

Sumner Ellis is an experienced football coach currently serving as the Run Game Coordinator, Defensive Line Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of West Georgia since March 2024. Prior to this role, Sumner served as the Outside Linebackers Coach and Co-Recruiting Coordinator at Mercer University from December 2019. Additionally, Sumner has held the position of Linebackers Coach at Presbyterian College from March 2018 to January 2025 and has been an Assistant Football Coach at Camden County High School from April 2015 to January 2025. Earlier coaching experience includes serving as an Assistant Football Coach at Central High School in Carrollton, Georgia, from May 2011 to March 2015. Sumner earned a degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Sociology from Louisiana Tech University between 2008 and 2011.
