Karthik P Jayapal

Karthik P Jayapal is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in biopharmaceutical process development and manufacturing. Currently serving as Director and Senior Principal Scientist at Merck since July 2020, Karthik leads cross-functional activities for drug supply development in early and late-phase clinical pipelines, emphasizing bioprocess expertise and innovation. Prior roles include Associate Director at Johnson & Johnson / Janssen Biotech, where Karthik directed drug substance process development, and Deputy Director at Sanofi Pasteur, overseeing improvements in bacterial vaccine processes. Earlier career experiences include staff development and process development roles at Bayer HealthCare and research at the University of Minnesota. Karthik holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
