Tycho Heimbach

Tycho Heimbach, Ph.D., FAAPS, is a highly experienced scientist with a robust background in biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics. Currently serving as Senior Principal Scientist (Director) at Merck since June 2020, Tycho previously held the position of Director, Global Team Lead PBPK at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation from 2007 to June 2020. Tycho's research interests encompass various aspects of physiologically-based biopharmaceutics, including predictions for efficacious dosing regimens, formulation optimization, and PBPK modeling for diverse populations. With over 15 IND regulatory submissions and significant experience leading global teams, Tycho is also known for contributions to health authority interactions regarding biopharmaceutics and drug absorption issues. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Macromolecular Science from the University of Detroit Mercy. Leadership roles included serving as an AAPS Ambassador to Graduate Schools and past chair of the AAPS Physical Pharmacy and Biopharmaceutics.
