Alan Simmonds

Alan Simmonds is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in hardware engineering and leadership roles. Currently serving as the Senior Director of Hardware Engineering and Senior Director of Engineering for Edge at Mercury Systems since February 2018, Alan previously held the position of Director of Embedded Systems at both Mercury Systems and Themis Computer, where a significant transition occurred following the acquisition. Alan's earlier career includes founding the US subsidiary of Creative Electronic Systems and serving as Engineering Director, along with being an Independent Electronic Engineering Consultant. Additional noteworthy roles include VP of Engineering and VP of Hardware Engineering at Quantum3D, where responsibilities encompassed high-end visual simulation and embedded computing development, and Hardware Engineering Lead at Primary Image Ltd. Alan began a career in research at the University of Sussex, advancing in the field after earning a BSc. in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the same institution.
