Merola Opera Program
Peter Grunberg is a versatile musician with extensive experience as a pianist, conductor, lecturer, arranger, and consultant. Since 1999, Grunberg has served at the San Francisco Symphony, working closely with Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and contributing to various projects, including the award-winning Keeping Score multimedia initiative. Grunberg has freelanced as a pianist and conductor for numerous prestigious organizations, including the Grand Théâtre de Genève, San Francisco Opera, and the Sydney Symphony. In addition, Grunberg is a skilled educator, providing instruction in musicianship, vocal coaching, and mathematics and physics. Grunberg holds educational credentials from the University of Cambridge and Sydney Grammar School.

Merola Opera Program
Named for San Francisco Opera's first General Director Gaetano Merola, the Merola Opera Program is an 11-week summer training program featuring classes and public performances of operas to give the selected artists a comprehensive education early in their career. Known for its world-class faculty and superb alumni, Merola provides a one-of-a-kind summer training experience for 20 singers, 4 apprentice coaches, and one apprentice stage director. Began in 1957, Merola is the oldest program of its kind.
