Sonia Joseph is a Visiting Researcher on the JEPA team for video understanding at Meta since September 2024. Currently, Sonia is a PhD student in Computer Science and Machine Learning at Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, focusing on the internal functioning of multimodal models. Previous roles include co-founding Alexandria Labs and serving as Co-Founder and CTO, alongside contributions as an NLP Research Engineer at NLMatics and a Research Engineer at Janelia Research Campus. Sonia has participated in multiple research cohorts, including as a MATS Scholar, concentrating on vision sparse autoencoders and mechanistic interpretability. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Machine Learning, and Literature from Princeton University, a Master's degree in Computer Science from McGill University, and ongoing doctoral studies in Computer Science at Mila.
