Emma Abele

Emma Abele is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in leadership, education, and engineering. Currently serving as CEO, President, and Chief of Staff at METR from March 2023 to January 2025, Emma has previously held significant roles including Advisor to the CEO at Effective Ventures for a brief crisis response assignment, and Co-Founder and CEO of the Global Challenges Project, a non-profit focused on educating university students about major societal issues. Emma also founded EA Virtual Programs at The Centre for Effective Altruism, creating global virtual engagement initiatives. Early career experiences include working as a Research Assistant at RealSenseRS on computational fluid dynamics for bioreactors and a Mechanical Engineering Intern at ALERT INNOVATION, where contribution was made to innovative automation systems. Emma holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brown University, earned in 2020.
