Brian Kennedy has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Brian is currently working as an Adjunct Instructor at Portland State University since March 2022. Prior to this, they held multiple roles at Metro, including Chief Financial Officer, Community Engagement and Business Services Program Director, Asset Management Program Director, Assistant Finance Director, and Finance Manager from 2010 to 2019. In these roles, they were responsible for strategic initiatives, budgeting, project management, and business planning related to the Parks and Nature Department. Before joining Metro, Brian worked at the City of Hillsboro as an Assistant Finance Director, Senior Project Manager, Administrative Services Manager for the Hillsboro Police Department, and Financial Analyst from 2001 to 2010. Brian also spent some time at the City of Salem as an Associate Planner and at the City of Sandy as a Finance Manager/Assistant to the City Manager. Brian's experience primarily focuses on finance, budgeting, project management, and strategic planning within government and educational institutions.
Brian Kennedy received their B.A. in Politics and History from Willamette University in 1998. Brian then went on to earn their MPA in Financial Management and Technology Management from Portland State University between the years 2000 and 2003.
