Matt LaTour has held various roles throughout their work experience. Matt began their career as a GIS Analyst - Intern at USAID in June 2004. Matt then worked as a Planning Consultant at Thibault Associates from March 2000 to June 2005. Matt then joined the US Government Accountability Office as a Senior Analyst in July 2005, where they worked for a decade until July 2015. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Audit Executive at the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities, starting from July 2015.
Matt LaTour earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Geography from the University of St. Thomas in 2000. Matt then went on to attend the Humphrey School of Public Affairs from 2003 to 2005, where they obtained a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree with a focus on International Relations and Affairs. Additionally, they hold a certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc.

Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities
The Metropolitan Council is the regional planning organization in the seven-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. We run the regional bus and light-rail system and Northstar commuter rail, collect and treat wastewater, coordinate regional water resources, plan regional parks, and administer funds that provide housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families. Our board is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Governor.
