Jess Nelson is a versatile journalist and communications professional with extensive experience across various roles in media and public relations. Currently serving as a Reporting Fellow for Miami New Times since June 2019, Jess covers diverse topics related to Miami while also contributing to the Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University. Prior experience includes a position as a technology news reporter at Mediapost, where coverage focused on email, big data, and marketing technology, as well as senior account management at Bospar, where leadership skills were honed in a startup environment. Jess has also worked in PR with Grayling and MSR Communications, developed marketing initiatives for the American Cancer Society, and completed internships in media and digital marketing. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and dual Bachelor's degrees in History from the University of California, Berkeley.
