Luca Scimeca

Luca Scimeca is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute since July 2023, specializing in foundational AI research with a focus on generative AI, learning representations, bias, and generalization, alongside applications in Drug Discovery and Robotics. Previously, Luca held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Harvard University, working on machine learning in synthetic biology, immunology, and virology, developing predictive models for genomic regulatory activity. Professional experience includes a role as an AI Research Scientist at NAVER Corp, where methods were devised to address shortcut bias in deep neural networks, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, concentrating on robot learning and sensory-motor coordination.
