Merewyn Groom

Merewyn Groom is a Principal Advisor at the Ministry for Primary Industries, specializing in the development of evidence and policy for the Forest and Wood Processing Industry Transformation Plan, aimed at transitioning New Zealand to a low carbon circular bioeconomy. Previously, Merewyn served as a Senior Analyst at Te Uru Rākau and a Policy Advisor at the Electricity Authority, focusing on responses to the Electricity Price Review. Earlier roles included Research Economist at BERL and Digital Media Coordinator at La Leche League New Zealand, where strategic planning and social media management were key responsibilities. Merewyn holds a Master of Climate Change Science and Policy from Victoria University of Wellington and has a diverse educational background, including a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics and various leadership and writing qualifications.
