Karen Pugh has extensive work experience in the field of Human Resources. Karen most recently worked as a Human Resources Director at MiSide, where they ensured compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, assisted with hiring and staff development decisions, and managed the compensation program. Prior to this, they worked as an Attorney at Xact Data Discovery (XDD) for four years. Karen has also held positions as an Executive Director of Human Resources at Waterford School District, where they were responsible for collective bargaining and employee incentive programs, and as an Executive Director of Human Resources and Legal Affairs at Flint Community Schools.
Karen Pugh obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where they studied from 1990 to 1993. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in American History from the University of Michigan, attending from 1986 to 1990. In addition to their academic qualifications, Karen has also obtained several certifications in areas such as human resources, leadership, and diversity and inclusion. Karen holds certifications such as the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification from HRCI, the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) from SHRM, and various diversity and inclusion certificates from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education. Karen is also licensed to practice law in Michigan, having obtained their license from the State Bar of Michigan in 1993.
