James Weis

James Weis is an accomplished educator and entrepreneur with extensive experience in the fields of biotechnology and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as an instructor at MIT Media Lab since 2018, James also founded Nest.Bio Labs in 2017, where James holds the position of CEO. In addition, James has been a partner at Nest.Bio Ventures since 2016 and co-founded MIT Alumni Life Science Angels within MIT Alumni Angels of Boston the same year. James’s leadership in biotechnology is underscored by serving as the founding president of the MIT Biotech Group from 2014 to 2017 and contributing to machine learning and bioengineering at MIT CSAIL during that period. Prior to these roles, James gained experience in quantitative trading at Citi from 2012 to 2013. Academically, James holds a Ph.D. from MIT Media Lab, a Master of Science from MIT CSAIL, and a Bachelor of Science from Brown University.
