Michael Kats

Michael Kats currently serves as the Sr. Manager of the Sustaining Engineering Group within the Lasers Business Unit R&D organization at MKS Instruments, focusing on the commercialization and continuous improvement of scientific and industrial laser products. Prior experience includes roles as Staff Scientist at Cymer, where project leadership on high-power CO2 drive lasers contributed to EUV lithography, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCSD, specializing in ultrafast optics and silicon photonics. Earlier, Michael led R&D efforts in developing pulsed fiber lasers at V-Gen and worked as a Research Engineer in satellite and optical communication for Israeli Military Intelligence. Academic credentials include a PhD in Electro-Optics and dual bachelor's degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Physics from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
