Lorena Posadas Rivera, M.S., PLMFT, is a bilingual therapist at the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) since December 2020, specializing in evidence-based counseling for survivors of sexual violence and youth with sexual behavior problems. Prior experience includes serving as a therapist intern at the Children's Advocacy Center of the South Plains, focusing on trauma therapy for children and families, and as a therapist in training at the Texas Tech Family Therapy Clinic, providing psychotherapy and case management. Lorena's educational background includes a Master's degree in Couples, Marriage, and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor's degree in Community, Family, and Addiction Sciences.

MOCSA’s mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault and to prevent sexual violence in our community. Together we can create a community free from sexual assault and abuse. Our services are free of charge and available to survivors and their families in the Kansas City metropolitan area. We offer the following services: - 24-hour Crisis Services: 816-531-0233 & 913-642-0233 - Advocacy: hospital, legal, police, and court advocacy; support groups - Counseling: individual and group therapy - Education: age-appropriate programs for children in elementary, middle, and high schools; training for advocates, counselors, law enforcement, restaurant and bar staff, and other professionals - Prevention: supporting community based coalitions in both Missouri and Kansas to prevent sexual assault and other forms of violence
