Data Scientist

Job description

As a data scientist you will use your expertise in quantitative analysis and predictive modeling to both build new data products and drive informed and timely decision-making across the business. You’ll be able to help personalize the product and user experience, optimize marketing and customer acquisition, shape product roadmap and business decisions, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop recommender systems to drive personalization features like news feed and suggested players
  • Build marketing models to acquire new customers at scale, predicting likelihood of new users to engage, identify high-value segments, measure how to allocate our marketing budget across different channels, etc.
  • Provide analysis and insights to support product design and business strategy decisions
  • Identify user trends to be used by our editorial team for external PR and news content
  • Assist in the build out of best practice DS modeling infrastructure and processes

Must Have:

  • BS/BA degree in statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, or other related field
  • 2+ years of experience developing advanced analytics and/or predictive ML models in a product-centric environment
  • Proficient in Python and SQL (or similar)
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, etc.

Nice to Have:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset excited by the prospect of building something new
  • Experience with AWS services, e.g. Redshift, Glue, Lambda
  • Comfortable owning projects from start to finish without detailed oversight and capable of managing multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
  • Strong desire to learn new techniques and technologies
  • Passion for sports, sports analytics, and/or gaming
