Erik Hatcher is a seasoned developer advocate with extensive experience in search technology and software development. Currently serving as a Staff Developer Advocate at MongoDB since September 2022, Erik focuses on empowering developers to build search-focused applications through technical content and support. As a member of The Apache Software Foundation since 1999, Erik contributes as a committer and project management committee member for Lucene and Solr. Previously, Erik held various roles at Lucidworks, including Principal Architect and co-founder, and worked as a programmer at Applied Research in Patacriticism, where significant projects like NINES and Collex were developed. Additionally, Erik co-authored influential publications, including "Java Development with Ant" and "Lucene in Action." Erik holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Science from the University of Virginia.
