Lorenz Huelsbergen

Lorenz Huelsbergen is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in distributed systems, database internals, query engines, storage, algorithms, and architecture. Currently at MongoDB since December 2020, Lorenz previously served as a Senior Staff Research Engineer at CTRL-labs within Facebook Reality Labs. Prior to that, Lorenz held the position of Engineering Fellow in Cloud Software at Western Digital, following the acquisition of Upthere, where Lorenz was a Senior Staff Engineer. Lorenz's earlier experience includes a decade at Google as a Member Technical Staff, alongside a tenure at AT&T/Lucent Bell Labs. Academically, Lorenz holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in Mathematics and German with honors from Grinnell College.
