Eric Cassetta

Graduate Research Student at Montana State University

Eric Cassetta is a graduate research student at Montana State University-Bozeman, specializing in trialing and breeding Allium spp. for small-scale farming since January 2025. Prior to this role, Eric served as a Phenomic Breeding Technician at The Land Institute from February 2019 to January 2025, where responsibilities included quantifying phenotypes of various breeding populations and managing extensive field trials. Eric also held positions as a Soil Ecology Technician, conducting soil analysis and project coordination, and as a Research Resident, evaluating diseases in Silphium integrifolium populations. Eric's early experience includes an internship at The Land Institute, service as an AmeriCorps member focusing on conservation efforts, and a lab technician role at Arizona State University, working on molecular phylogenetics. Eric earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with a focus on Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology from Arizona State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Agricultural and Horticultural Plant Breeding at Montana State University-Bozeman.
