Brian Mattmiller has over 30 years of experience in communications, starting as a Higher Education Reporter for The Southern Illinoisan in 1987. Brian then worked as a Science Writer for the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1994 to 2001. In 2001, they became the Director of Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and later served as Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2005 to 2009. From 2009 to 2013, they worked as the Assistant Dean for Alumni and Corporate Relations at UW-Madison. Finally, they took on the role of Chief Communications Officer at the Morgridge Institute for Research in 2013.
Brian Mattmiller attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1982 to 1986, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.

The Morgridge Institute for Research is a nonprofit biomedical institute exploring uncharted scientific territory to discover tomorrow’s cures. Morgridge works to improve human health through innovative, interdisciplinary biomedical discoveries, spark scientific curiosity and serve society through translational outcomes, in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research areas include regenerative biology and bioinformatics, virology, medical engineering, metabolism, core computational technology and bioethics.
