Sara Shirley

Scientist at Mosa Meat

Sara Shirley's work experience begins in 2016 as a Laboratory Intern at ITQB-UNL, where they performed various molecular biology techniques. In 2019, they volunteered at the Cell Biology & Immunology lab and later became a Project Group Leader for a consultancy project at Wageningen University & Research. Sara also worked as a Student Assistant for the course "Essential Cell Biology." In 2020, Sara joined Instituto de Medicina Molecular as a Junior Researcher in Molecular Biology, where they edited colon cancer cell lines using CRISPR-Cas9. Sara also volunteered at the COVID-19 Diagnostics Task Force. Currently, Sara is working as a Jr. Scientist at Mosa Meat, starting in 2021.

Sara Shirley pursued their education at several institutions. Sara obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology, specializing in Cellular Biology and Biotechnology, from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa from 2013 to 2016. In 2015 and 2016, Sara was an ERASMUS+ student at Wageningen University & Research. Later, from 2018 to 2020, they pursued a Master's degree in Biotechnology at the same institution.
