Chengjie Zhang

Chengjie Zhang is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in autonomy and perception research. Currently serving as Principal Engineer and Team Lead at Motional since August 2020, Chengjie previously held roles as Senior Scientist and Senior Research Scientist in the same organization. Prior to Motional, Chengjie worked at Uber as an Autonomy Engineer from October 2016 to July 2020, and at Qualcomm as a Senior Engineer from July 2013 to September 2016, focusing on WCDMA software. Experience also includes research assistant roles at the Information Sciences Institute from August 2007 to July 2013, primarily involved in wireless sensor network projects, and an internship at Chevron developing fuzzy logic systems. Chengjie holds a PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Southern California and a B.S. in Information Security from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
