Steve Beard is an experienced technology executive, currently serving as CTO at Mr & Mrs Smith since February 2019. Previously, Beard held the CTO position at Swoon, an online retailer focused on affordable furniture design, and served as Engineering Director at Moonpig, where leadership in web, back office, and production engineering teams resulted in high team engagement scores. Beard has a robust background in development and technical architecture from roles at Trainline, Rok, Sporting Index, P&O Nedlloyd, and CACI, demonstrating expertise in e-commerce, lean startup principles, and high-availability systems. Beard holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton.

Mr & Mrs Smith (a nod to the classic check-in nom de plume for illicit stays of old) began life in 2003 and has evolved into a global travel club with more than a million like-minded members. Entry is by invitation only and every hotel is visited by our team and anonymously reviewed by a diverse bunch of trusted tastemakers, including Stella McCartney, Philip Treacy and Dita Von Teese, to name a few.
