Chris Kates

6th Grade Teacher, Amy Beverland Elementary at MSD of Lawrence Township

Chris Kates is a dedicated educator and leader in the field of education, currently serving as a 6th Grade Teacher at Amy Beverland Elementary in the MSD of Lawrence Township since July 2025 and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Indianapolis since August 2024. Previous roles include Rotary Club President for Indianapolis Northeast at Ft. Ben, Strategic Planning and Implementation Specialist at EES Innovation, and Principal at Fayette County School Corporation. With extensive experience in educational leadership, including positions as Director of Leadership and Innovation and Specialist in the Office of Educator Effectiveness at the Indiana Department of Education, Chris has also contributed as an Instructional Coach and a 5th Grade Lead Teacher at Avon Community School Corporation. Chris holds a Ph.D. in Education Administration as well as an Educational Specialist degree and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, all from Indiana State University and Indiana University Indianapolis.
